Self-regulation, learned by playing
Naming a feeling as weather gives kids words for it, and breathing gives them something to do about it. Kids start to reach for the skill on their own.
The calm-down app kids actually ask for.
Meet Puff, a squishy little cloud buddy whose whole world runs on your child's breath. Kids blow on the phone to light candles, float balloons and chase away storm clouds, and every game is secretly a real calm-down breathing exercise.
Try it
Hold the button, or press and hold the space bar, and give the cake one big, slow blow. In the app you blow on the phone instead. No microphone needed here.
Five candles to go. Take a big breath in, then hold the button!
Tap and hold, or hold Space.
How it works
No reading, no sign-up, no tricky menus. Just Puff, a feeling, and a breath.
Each day Puff asks, "How's your weather?" Your child picks the weather that matches how they feel inside, and Puff turns into it.
Puff suggests a game that fits. Blow on the phone to blow out candles, fill balloons or chase storm clouds away. Every breath makes something happen.
Sessions are short, one to three minutes. The long, slow breaths do the quiet work while it just feels like play, and then your child puts it down.
There are no wrong answers. Naming a feeling is the first step to handling it, and a feeling that has a name feels a little smaller.
Whoosh! listens for the sound of a breath, right on the device, and ignores chatter, giggles and the TV. No microphone, or you would rather not use it? A hold-to-blow button does the same job.
Eight breathing games
Kids see candles, balloons and fireflies. Underneath, each game guides a different breathing pattern.
Puff's cake is covered in candles. Blow them out one wish at a time.
Fill the balloons with your breath until they float Puff up into the sky.
Blow gentle bubbles and watch them wobble up, up, up. Pop them or let them drift.
Blow the grumpy storm clouds away, and a rainbow appears behind them.
Scatter the fluffy seeds on the wind and watch them land and grow into Puff's garden.
Sail a little boat across the sea by breathing into its sail, all the way to Treasure Island.
Follow the glowing star with slow breaths and watch it light up, point by point.
Wake the fireflies with slow, sleepy breaths until Puff drifts off. It is also the last step of Bedtime with Puff.
Three games are free forever. The rest come with Whoosh Plus. See pricing.

For grown-ups
A tiny tool for the big moments: meltdowns, worries, wiggles and "I can't fall asleep".
Naming a feeling as weather gives kids words for it, and breathing gives them something to do about it. Kids start to reach for the skill on their own.
Bedtime with Puff strings two sleepy breathing games together, then turns into a soft night light with a sleep timer, so the whole house can shift into sleepy mode.
Sessions are one to three minutes by design. Whoosh! is made to be used for a moment and put down, and a play-time limit in the grown-ups zone keeps it that way.
See streaks, minutes breathed, how feelings change over time, and the mood lift from before to after play. It lives in a grown-ups zone behind a parental gate, along with settings.
A little science, said carefullySlow, extended exhales are a common part of calming exercises, because they are linked with the body's relaxation response. Whoosh! turns that idea into play. It is a playful tool, not a medical treatment, and not a substitute for professional care.
Privacy promise
We built Whoosh! the way we would want an app for our own children to be built.
Whoosh! only uses the microphone to detect breath, right on the phone. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
No banners, no pop-ups, no sneaky videos between games.
No analytics or ad SDKs watching what your child does.
No sign-up, no email, no password. Open the app and play.
Check-ins and streaks stay on your device and go away when you delete the app.

Questions
No. The microphone is only used to detect breath on the device, in the moment. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. Whoosh! has no accounts and collects no data.
No. The games, Puff and the breath detection all run on your device. You only need a connection to start or restore a purchase through the App Store or Google Play.
Whoosh! is made for ages 3 to 8. There is no reading needed, so little ones can play, and the youngest are happiest with a grown-up nearby.
That is fine. Every game has a hold-to-blow button that does the same job. Press and hold it to blow, let go to rest. It also works if the microphone isn't available or permission is switched off.
Breath has a distinct, airy sound. Whoosh! listens for that pattern on the device, so chatter and giggles don't move the candles. Breath detection can't be perfect in every room, which is another reason the hold-to-blow button is there.
No. Whoosh! is a playful tool, not a medical treatment, and not a substitute for professional care. If you are worried about your child's health, feelings or sleep, please talk to a doctor or a qualified professional.
